A Which Travel survey published this week named Cambridge as the number one medium sized city in the UK for staycations.
The survey compares 56 UK cities for a whole range of metrics including accommodation, cultural offer, food and beverage offer, shopping and ease of getting around. To be listed number one ahead of many other leading destinations such as Winchester, Canterbury, Harrogate, Chester, and Oxford is great news for our city. It’s not though unexpected. Cambridge BID does a lot of PR work for the city, bringing journalists to stay who travel from far and wide and the comments we get on their experience here, as well as the articles they publish are a great testament to the huge effort the city puts into meeting, greeting and welcoming visitors.
This experience starts with a great Visit Cambridge website for pre visit research, it continues with our popular on street City Ambassador team who provide advice to visitors. Cambridge scored very well for our cultural offer with our beautiful buildings, museums, and colleges but a lot of the visitor experience is the great customer service the hard-working staff in our hotels, bars, shops, cafes, attractions, and restaurants provide every day. These are our visitor welcome champions.
If you live in Cambridge why not take the chance this summer or any day, to explore your city, to experience the great visitor welcome voted first in this survey, to get to experience the city so many others write about so passionately, to see the new and exciting businesses opening each week as our city looks forward post pandemic.
I’m often surprised at how little knowledge of the city centre many residents have, why they aren’t using this wonderful offer everyday with its 7 day a week market at its heart, its great range of independent cafes, bars, boutiques and restaurants, stylish hotels to have cocktails and dinner. Cambridge is your city make sure you’re enjoying it too.
