The Office Sector in Cambridge
Cambridge is home to a huge range of professional businesses – and the sector is ever-growing. From tiny start-ups in co-working spaces, through to large corporations with flagship offices. The office sector has a positive economic impact on the city, and attracts talented workers from all over the world. Many employees travel in from outside of Cambridge. The historic city centre’s shopping, dining and cultural attractions are harder to reach from office hubs around the train station (~20 minutes walk).
With that in mind, Cambridge BID’s key hub for engaging with the office sector is the Station Road area. We are helping Station Square to establish itself as a quality location for outdoor events and lively cultural activity, being the gateway into the city for so many commuters. We deliver work in consultation and partnership with CB1 Community and other stakeholders, and engage businesses to hear their feedback and ideas.
How does Cambridge BID support professional businesses?
We try to think about what the business needs, and what their employees need. Most of our projects are about either:
1. Bringing activity to their doorsteps (live Wimbledon screens in summertime; Christmas lights switch-on events in winter, community arts projects like Window Wanderland)
Or
2. Experiencing the city beyond their office (invites to festivals & events, corporate offers via our Love Cambridge Gift Card).
