“The theme of the Love Cambridge Mother’s Day campaign is ‘making new memories with mum’ and using the Love Cambridge Gift Card to give mum something to look forward to after such a challenging time.
Maybe that’s a lovely meal out with her children that she hasn’t been able to see much over the last year, or some me-time at the spa. It could even be the chance to meet up with a friend over a coffee and some shopping. The Love Cambridge Gift Card offers something to look forward to, whilst showing your love and support for our beautiful City.”
The Love Cambridge Gift Card is part of the award winning Town and City Gift Cards programme from fintech Miconex. Over £1.9 million was spent through its local economy boosting schemes in 2020, providing evidence that consumers are turning to local, multi-venue gift card programmes in a bid to support local businesses.
Managing director of Miconex Colin Munro said the use of multi-venue gift cards is rising, reflecting consumer desire to support local businesses.
“With concerns around buying single retailer gift cards in 2020, multi-venue gift cards like the Love Cambridge Gift Card, grew in popularity, accounting for 37.7% of all gift cards purchased in October. Added to this, 81% of people are supporting local businesses more than before the pandemic began suggests research from Visa and the Centre for Economics and Business Research.
“Our 2020 sales data from November and December 2020 showed that our local gift cards are popular across the generations, with Boomers buying 34.88% of gift cards, Generation X shoppers at 32.33%, Millennials 19.89% and Generation Z at 12.89% of gift card transactions. People like local gift cards because of the security it offers, the choice for the recipient and the feel-good factor of supporting local.”
