Cambridge Half Marathon Traffic Information

Key Notes:

  • The 2019 route will be identical to the version used in the previous 3 years, it is a single lap course, which takes in the City Centre as well as passing through Trumpington & Grantchester.

  • The event will be delivered by OSB Events, with support from Cambridge City Council & Cambridgeshire County Council.

  • There will be between 8,000-9,000 participants taking part in the event with approximately 6,000 expected spectators, the roads are likely to be busier than normal on the day of the event. If you have any planned journeys please allow additional time.

  • All car parks will remain open throughout the day of the event , except for a short period of time (09:15 – 10:30) where access to Grafton West Car Park will be restricted.

  • All Bus services will continue to run on the day of the event, however the stops on Trumpington Street & Downing Street will be suspended up until 13:00, with an alternative stop in place on Emmanuel Street.

  • All pavements will remain open on the day of the event, with the exception of a short section of Elizabeth Way and Garret Hostel Bridge. King’s College have kindly agreed to allow pedestrians to access the City Centre through their grounds. Cyclists and Dogs (except guide) are not permitted please use Silver Street, taking extra care whilst the runners are on the course.

  • Certain access points through Midsummer Common will be restricted in the days leading up to the event, to allow for deliveries coming onto the Common however access & egress for pedestrians & cyclists will be maintained throughout race day.
